Майкл Дж.Алтер, в прошлом гимнаст, тренер
и национальный судья по гимнастике, является
признанным специалистом в области использования
упражнений на растягивание. Две его книги "Наука
о растягивании" и "Спортивное растягивание" получили
высокие оценки со стороны спортсменов, тренеров и специалистов в области спортивной медицины. В 1976 г.
в Международном университете Флориды ему была
присвоена степень магистра в области оздоровительной
физической культуры. Преподавал физическую культуру
в средней школе и тренировал гимнастов на протяжении
ряда лет. В настоящее время - преподаватель истории
в средней школе Майями. Участник многих научных
конгрессов, семинаров и симпозиумов.
