My family
I would like to tell you a few words about my family. We are five in the family: my mother, my father, my brother, my sister and me.
My Dad is forty-six. He is broad-shouldered, tall, well-built and handsome man with dark hair and brown eyes. By character my father is a quite man, while my mother is energetic and talkative. He has a good sense of humour and is very popular with his friends at parties. He is a businessman and works at a joint venture enterprise. He works hard and spends little time with us. He has to earn for our living. But in these rare moments that he spends at home he always finds time for me and my brother if we come to him with our troubles. He can make different things with his own hands. We have a car and my father always repairs it himself.
My Mum is forty-four. She is a slender woman with long jet-black hair, dark hazel eyes, bushy eyelashes and pencilled browns. She has an oval face, a straight nose and an attractive smile. She takes care of her looks, that is why she is very attractive and looks young for her age. She works as a shop-assistant in a department store. She likes her profession, but has to spend much time working about the house.
My parents have been married for 26 years. They have much in common, but they have different views on music, films, and sports. My father is fond of tennis and swimming. When he has some free time he goes to the swimming-pool. My mother doesn’t go in for sports. But my parents have the same opinion about our education and upbringing.
My parents are hard-working people. My mother keeps house and takes care of our family. She has much work to do about the house. She is very good at cooking and she is clever with her hands. She often cooks something tasty for us. She is very practical. My father and I try to help her with the housework. I wash the dishes, go shopping and tidy our flat.
My youngest brother's name is Andrew. We are very much the same in character and appearance, only he is four years my junior. He does very well at school and I am sick and tired to listen to my parents speaking about his numerous talents. He is fond of playing computer games and reading detective stories and science fiction. He wants to be a computer engineer. We are good friends, but I should say he is too inconsistent and rarely does his best. In other words, he is not bad when he makes an effort. He is very energetic. It takes him half an hour to do his homework and then he rushes out to play football because he is crazy about it. Andrew is rather impulsive and quick to make decisions though not always the right ones. He has his own way in everything, and I respect him for that.
My elder sister Natasha is 25. She is married and she has a family of her own. She has a husband and two children – a son and a daughter. They are twins. They go to a nursery school. My sister is an economist by profession. She works as an accountant for a joint venture company. Her husband is a lawyer. He is very experienced.
I have told we are five, but it would be more precise to say we are six, as there is one more member of the family. Our dog is the most important person in our house. Rex is a sheep-dog. He is very gallant and devoted to his masters. He doesn’t like to stay alone when we are out, but whenever we return he meets us with such joy and energy that make spirits bright.
My grandparents are retired, but they are still full of life and energy. They are fond of gardening and travelling. Our family is very united and we have many relatives. I love my family very much. We always help each other. Everyone in my family is my best friend.
